History:

The University of Queensland (UQ) is a public university Established by the 1909 Act of State Parliament. The state’s first university officially founded on April 16, 1910, started functioning in 1911 with 83 students enrolled in the three initial faculties – Arts, Science and Engineering. At present UQ boasts over 45000 students enrolled across its campuses.

Post World War period witnessed tremendous expansion of UQ. UQ is part of Australia's Group of Eight. There are eleven residential colleges under UQ. Professor Peter H�j is the present Vice-Chancellor. UQ conducts Careers Fair annually bringing in major employers from all around the country.

Campuses:

UQ is headquartered in the suburb of St Lucia, in Brisbane. Other campuses are at Ipswich, Gatton, Herston, and Turbot Street.

Ranking:

In 2013 UQ was ranked 43rd by QS World University Rankings, 63rd by�Times Higher Education Rankings and 85th by Academic Ranking of World Universities.

UQ offers scholarships to future and current students to support high achieving students. UQ’s annual scholarship budget comes around $40 million.
