History

Swinburne University of Technology, established as the Eastern Suburbs Technical College by the Honorable George Swinburne in1908, gained university status in 1992. Linda Kristjanson is the present Vice- Chancellor of Swinburne. Swinburne offers vocational, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.  

Campuses

Centered in Hawthorn, Swinburne’s other campuses are at at Prahran, Wantirna and Croydon. Malaysia hosts Swinburne’s branch campus in Sarawak.

Rankings

Swinburne University of Technology is ranked within the top 500 universities in most of the prestigious world academic ranking lists. According to Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) Swinburne 2013, University of Technology is listed among the top 400 universities in the world. The university was ranked 401-450 in the QS World University Rankings 2011. In 2013, computer science and information technology, sociology, psychology and communications and media subjects offered at Swinburne University of Technology were ranked 151-200 internationally by the QS World University Rankings.
