About Deakin University:
Deakin, a world class Australian university was Victoria's fourth university and the first university in regional Victoria. It was established in 1974 under the Deakin University Act 1974. The university was named after Alfred Deakin, Australia's second Prime Minister.
The university has now become truly world class, winning the prestigious Australian University of the Year award twice. Deakin was the first to open an office in India. Deakin is Australia's ninth-largest university hosting over 42,000 students. The university enlisted its first set of students in 1977 at the first campus established at Waurn Ponds.
Currently Deakin has its campuses in Geelong, Warrnambool and Burwood, Melbourne. Mergers with strong partners led to the expansion of Deakin in 1990s. Deakin offers both regular and distance mode of education covering a variety of areas including Architecture and built environment, Arts, Business, Communication, Creative arts, Criminology, Education and teaching, Engineering, Environment, Health, Information systems, Information technology, International studies & languages, Law, Medicine, Nursing and midwifery, Nutrition and dietetics, Optometry, Politics and policy, Property and real estate, Psychology, Science and Sport.
Deakin University offers excellent facilities including Universal Motion Simulator, sporting and recreation, arts, IT, Health and science, on and off campus facilities for each area of study. The university has got 5-star accreditation by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the prestigious university ranking organization. Jane den Hollander is the current Vice-Chancellor (CEO) of Deakin. As per the Times Higher Education100 Under 50, Deakin University is ranked 66th among the top universities in the world that are less than 50 years old. Deakin University received QS 5 Star Rating for excellence in 2013. Deakin's Master of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (International) courses are the top ranked MBA courses in Australia, recognized by the Graduate Management Association of Australia (GMAA) in 2009 and in 2013 with five star.
