At present it has a staff of approximately 3,600 with its operations spread in all states of Australia.
History of Manufacturers Mutual Insurance
Manufacturers Mutual Insurance has been founded in the year 1914 of May month, with its name as “The Manufacturers Mutual Accident Insurance Association limited”. At the time of its origin, it primarily concentrated on the workers compensation market. In the year 1920, the company has been renamed as Manufacturers Mutual Insurance limited with abbreviation as “MMI”. While in the year of 1933 it has extended its operations to Queensland as per the Queensland Chamber of Manufacturers.
In the year of 1960, this company as acquired “The Western Australian Insurance Company limited” and also at the same time it has extended its operations into states of Victoria, South Australia along with Western Australia. After 10 years in 1970, it has acquired two companies that are Yasuda Fire and Marine Insurance’s Australian business. And in the year of 1986, it also acquired Australian operation of Allianz.
Next year it has undertaken the management of Combrook Pty Limited and in 1989 Chamber of Manufacturers has been obtained by this company. In the month of July 2000, MMI has officially changed its name as Allianz Australia. In the year 2003, Allianz Australia has agreed to launch a 3 year relationship with Open family to support deprived children in Australia. In year 2006, in order to become an independent company it has sold its injury management along with health place subsidiary Recovre to Hawkesbridge Private Equity.
