It has been originated from the group of employees in Australian Company, who aimed to help the workers with health insurance from the rising costs for health care. It was named as Cement Workers Hospital Benefits Scheme. After few years it has gained importance and opened a new scheme for the unemployed Australian citizens in Industrial sector. In a decade this organization has gained popularity and as its demand is increasing gradually, new branches were opened outside Geelong also.
In the year 1958, it has been named as Geelong Medical and Hospital Benefits Association, but formally it was abbreviated as GMHBA in the year of 2000. In the year 2009 of October month it has started a second brand with the name Frank Health Insurance.
