History
Atradius was actually established as Nederlandsche Credietverzekering Maatschappij (NCM) in 1925 in the Netherlands with an aim to improve business of companies there. In 1932, NCM became an associate of Dutch government and started offering export credit services to Dutch companies. In 2001, NCM merged with the German credit insurance group Gerling-Konzern Speziale Kreditversicherung (Gerling Credit) founded in 1954 to form GERLING NCM. And the name Atradius Credit Insurance N.V. was introduced in 2003 when GERLING NCM rebranded.
In 2008, Atradius further strengthened its hold in international credit insurance market by teaming up with Spanish insurer Crédito y Caución.
Currently, Atradius is known as a highly international group with amalgamation of trade credit insurers from countries such as Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, UK and USA.
Operations
Headquartered in Amsterdam in the Netherlands the Atradius group is mostly Spanish owned. Operating in insurance industry, the group has its business in 45 countries to offer products and services to businesses to support them in administering trade credit risks, mainly while trading with new allies or in new regions.
