Commonwealth Games 2014 starts with the opening ceremony on 23rd July 2014 while venue will be at Celtic Park. It is the stage which welcomes 6500 athletes from all the commonwealth nations. It will be a curtain raiser to 11 days sport festival with 17 sports and 22 para-sports. This will be a grand welcome to athletes of commonwealth games nations by commonwealth community to celebrate journey of 11-day sports with goal for victory.

Celtic park is chosen for opening ceremony of commonwealth games has it is near to Athlete’s village and will be ideal for the ceremony. Also it has a spectacular arrangement which brings audience closer to the action.

Commonwealth games opening ceremony theme as not been announced till now but it will be related to conclusion of Queen’s Baton Relay. The opening ceremony will have following programs:

Game’s Opening – Opening of the games will be conducted by Head of the commonwealth and then followed by Scottish nation.
Parade of Nations – It will be a formal procession with 4500 athletes along with their coaches and teams.
Queen’s Baton Relay – It will be the end of journey of 1, 90,000 km where the baton with message carved in it has covered 71 commonwealth nations and territories. After the baton has handed back to Queen or her representative then they will be revealing the message in it by reading it louder at opening ceremony.

Then after the completion of these three programs games of 11 day sport festival will begin.
